Sparc3D 2.0 & Portrait: The Essentials

Sparc3D 2.0 is a state-of-the-art 3D model generation framework developed by Math Magic and researchers from Nanyang Technological University and Imperial College London. It is designed to create high-resolution, watertight 3D models from a single image or up to four views. By leveraging the novel Sparcubes representation and the Sparconv-VAE engine, Sparc3D 2.0 delivers exceptional geometric detail and professional-grade textures for complex objects or intricate human subjects.

Sparc3D 2.0

This flagship model converts a single image or up to 4 views into high-fidelity 3D models with clean, watertight geometry and detailed textures. Powered by Sparconv-VAE and Sparcubes, it is optimized for creating optimized assets for games, AR/VR, product design, and 3D printing.

Sparc3D 2.0 Portrait

A specialized variant engineered for portrait use cases, generating high-resolution 3D head and face models from 1 to 4 images. It prioritizes facial coherence and volume stability, providing clean geometry for animation, rendering, and AR/VR workflows.

Parameters at a Glance

  • Image(s): Upload 1 to 4 images for reconstruction.

  • Resolution: Controls the voxel grid size used during generation. Available options are 1536³ and 1536³ Pro.

  • Face Count: Specifies the maximum number of mesh polygons, ranging from 100,000 to 2,000,000 faces.

  • Output Type: Choose between Mesh only for manual texturing workflows or Mesh + Texture for ready assets.

Understanding Resolutions

  • 1536³ Resolution: The standard high-fidelity option for creating detailed 3D assets with intricate geometric details.

  • 1536³ Pro Resolution: The highest fidelity mode designed for professional use cases where maximum geometric detail and volume stability are required.

Technical Advantages of v2.0

  • Smart Mesh Processing (Sparcubes): A novel approach that preserves fine details and small components while ensuring clean, watertight surfaces with a 3× speedup over traditional methods.

  • Efficient Learning (Sparconv-VAE): Built on sparse convolutional networks, this system achieves near-lossless 3D reconstruction with 4× faster convergence.

  • Portrait Specialization: Sparc3D 2.0 Portrait is optimized for human subjects, prioritizing facial coherence and volume stability to create clean, watertight head models.

Step‑by‑Step Guide

  1. Open 3D Generation: From the Scenario dashboard, navigate to Create > 3D. Select either Sparc3D 2.0 or Sparc3D 2.0 Portrait (optimized for human subjects) from the model list.

  2. Upload Your Image(s): Use 1–4 high-resolution files. For 2.0 models, multi-view inputs yield the highest fidelity.

  3. Select Workflow and Output: Choose your preferred workflow (All-in-One, Staged, or Geometry-only). Set Output Type to Mesh + Texture for a complete asset with material maps.

  4. Set Resolution and Face Count: Choose between 1536³ or 1536³ Pro. Adjust the Max Faces slider based on your target detail level, up to 2M faces.

  5. Generate: Click Generate. Once complete, preview the watertight mesh and download your asset.

Use Cases & Best Practices

  • Visualization Assets: High-detail meshes provide excellent foundations for architectural, product design, and anatomical visualization.

  • 3D Printing: The watertight nature of generated models ensures they are ready for physical fabrication.

  • Best Practice - Quality Input: Use clear, well-lit images with simple backgrounds to improve reconstruction accuracy.

  • Best Practice - Balance Parameters: Higher face counts (up to 2M) improve geometric fidelity but increase file size. Always balance your polycount based on the target application (e.g., real-time games vs. high-end rendering).
