Relax Mode: Keep Generating After Your Compute Units Run Out
Last updated: October 5, 2026
On the Pro, Max and Enterprise plans, running out of Compute Units (CU) does not stop your work. Once your plan’s allowance for the month is used up and you have no top-up CU left, your organization switches to Relax mode: you can keep generating in the web app at no extra cost, but you wait between jobs. In the app and on the pricing page, this is called relaxed generations.
Which plans have Relax mode
Plan | When your Compute Units run out |
Free | Generation stops until your daily credits reset at 00:00 UTC. See Pricing & Plans. |
Starter | Generation stops until your plan renews, or until you buy more CU. |
Pro and Max | Relax mode. A job of up to 50 CU waits at most 55 minutes. |
Enterprise | Relax mode, with shorter waits: a job of up to 50 CU waits at most 20 minutes. |
Some plans that are no longer sold, such as the earlier Team plans, also include Relax mode.
When it starts and ends
There is nothing to turn on. Relax mode starts automatically when both of these are true:
your plan’s CU allowance for the current billing period is used up, and
you have no top-up CU left (bought CU are spent after the plan allowance).
It ends as soon as you have CU again: when you buy compute units, or when your plan renews and your allowance resets.
What it covers
Covered: everything you start in the Scenario web app that costs CU, including images, video, 3D, audio, upscaling and the other tools, workflow runs and model trainings.
Not covered: the API. Requests made with an API key stop at your plan’s limit unless you have top-up CU.
Not covered: the AI chat. Messages to the Scenario agent stop at your plan’s limit too.
How long you wait
After each job, your organization waits before it can start the next one. A few things decide how long:
How far over your allowance you are. The more you generate in Relax mode, the longer the waits get.
How recently you generated. After a break, the wait is shorter. Steady use keeps it long.
The cost of the job. For a job of up to 50 CU, such as most images, the wait is at most 55 minutes (20 minutes on Enterprise). A job that costs more waits longer, in proportion to its cost: a 300 CU video can wait from under an hour to about 5 and a half hours.
The wait is shared by the whole organization. A job started by any member restarts it for everyone in the organization.
The countdown is for the job you tried to start. Because the wait depends on the job’s cost, a cheaper job may be allowed sooner, and a more expensive one later.
Some image requests are not refused: they are accepted right away and processed in a lower-priority queue, with the message "Your request has been queued and will be processed as soon as possible."
What you see
When you start a job during the wait, a window titled You’re out of compute. tells you how long is left, for example "Your next generation unlocks in 12 minutes and 30 seconds." The countdown updates every second. When it reaches zero, the window says "Your wait is over! You can close this window and continue generating."
Organization admins also see the plans they can upgrade to. Other members can ask an admin to upgrade the plan or buy compute units.
Skip the wait
Buy compute units. In Settings → Organization → Billing, click Buy compute units, pick an amount and click Purchase. Bought CU end Relax mode right away and are used until they run out. Only organization admins can buy. See Usage limits and Compute Units (CU).
Set up Auto-Refill on the same page, so CU are bought automatically before you run out.
Upgrade your plan for a larger monthly allowance.
Fair use
Relax mode is there to help you finish a task or bridge a short gap, not as a source of unlimited compute. Scenario may change, slow down or remove it at any time, including for a single account. Using scripts, bots or other automation to generate during the waits, or planning usage to get around your plan’s allowance, is not allowed. See section 5.2A of our Terms and Conditions.
